Blog

A blog (a contraction of the term "weblog") is a type of website, usually maintained by an individual with regular entries of commentary, descriptions of events, or other material such as graphics or video. Entries are commonly displayed in reverse-chronological order. "Blog" can also be used as a verb, meaning to maintain or add content to a blog.

Many blogs provide commentary or news on a particular subject; others function as more personal online diaries. A typical blog combines text, images, and links to other blogs, Web pages, and other media related to its topic. The ability for readers to leave comments in an interactive format is an important part of many blogs. Most blogs are primarily textual, although some focus on art (artlog), photographs (photoblog), sketches (sketchblog), videos (vlog), music (MP3 blog), and audio (podcasting). Micro-blogging is another type of blogging, featuring very short posts.

As of December 2007, blog search engine Technorati was tracking more than 112 million blogs.

There are many different types of blogs, differing not only in the type of content, but also in the way that content is delivered or written.

Personal blogs:

The personal blog, an ongoing diary or commentary by an individual, is the traditional, most common blog. Personal bloggers usually take pride in their blog posts, even if their blog is never read by anyone but them. Blogs often become more than a way to just communicate; they become a way to reflect on life or works of art. Blogging can have a sentimental quality. Few personal blogs rise to fame and the mainstream, but some personal blogs quickly garner an extensive following. A type of personal blog is referred to as "microblogging," which is extremely detailed blogging as it seeks to capture a moment in time. Sites, such as Twitter, allow bloggers to share thoughts and feelings instantaneously with friends and family and is much faster than e-mailing or writing.

Corporate blogs:

A blog can be private, as in most cases, or it can be for business purposes. Blogs, either used internally to enhance the communication and culture in a corporation or externally for marketing, branding or public relations purposes are called corporate blogs.

By genre:

Some blogs focus on a particular subject, such as political blogs, travel blogs, house blogs, fashion blogs, project blogs, education blogs, niche blogs, classical music blogs, quizzing blogs and legal blogs (often referred to as a blawgs) or dreamlogs. Two common types of genre blogs are art blogs and music blogs. A blog featuring discussions especially about home and family is not uncommonly called a mom blog. While not a legitimate type of blog, one used for the sole purpose of spamming is known as a Splog.

By media type:

A blog comprising videos is called a vlog, one comprising links is called a linklog, a site containing a portfolio of sketches is called a sketchblog or one comprising photos is called a photoblog. Blogs with shorter posts and mixed media types are called tumblelogs. Blogs that are written on typewriters and then scanned are called typecast or typecast blogs; see typecasting (blogging).
A rare type of blog hosted on the Gopher Protocol is known as a Phlog.

Jyotsna
One from me too...
Just after our training completion in Mysore Dc and postings to Pune, me and my friends went out for dinner in one of the best restaurants. .
And as I finished.. I started walking towards the Basin with plates in my hand.. :)

Once I was on call with my father and mom was not around. I went on to ask, "why is she not attending the status call?"

Anup
I don't login to orkut, yahoo, gmail, youtube, etc.. at my personal internet connection at home... thinking it will be blocked any way.

Venu
Few of my friends and myself decided to go out for dinner. The place wasn't fixed yet. I said we shall decide it "run time"

Krishna
When I went to a movie theatre from office directly.. I showed the guy at the entrance my ID card and walked in... he had to call me back asking the ticket...

Brooklyn Bridge

DETERMINATION

In 1883, a creative engineer named John Roebling was inspired by an idea to
build a spectacular bridge connecting New York with the Long Island.
However bridge building experts throughout the world thought that this was
an impossible feat and told Roebling to forget the idea. It just could not
be done. It was not practical. It had never been done before.

Roebling could not ignore the vision he had in his mind of this bridge. He
thought about it all the time and he knew deep in his heart that it could
be done. He just had to share the dream with someone else. After much
discussion and persuasion he managed to convince his son Washington, an up
and coming engineer, that the bridge in fact could be built.

Working together for the first time, the father and son developed concepts
of how it could be accomplished and how the obstacles could be overcome.
With great excitement and inspiration, and the headiness of a wild
challenge before them, they hired their crew and began to build their dream
bridge.

The project started well, but when it was only a few months underway a
tragic accident on the site took the life of John Roebling. Washington was
injured and left with a certain amount of brain damage, which resulted in
him not being able to walk or talk or even move.

"We told them so."
"Crazy men and their crazy dreams."
"It’s foolish to chase wild visions."

Everyone had a negative comment to make and felt that the project should be
scrapped since the Roebling were the only ones who knew how the bridge
could be built. In spite of his handicap Washington was never discouraged
and still had a burning desire to complete the bridge and his mind was
still as sharp as ever.

He tried to inspire and pass on his enthusiasm to some of his friends, but
they were too daunted by the task. As he lay on his bed in his hospital
room, with the sunlight streaming through the windows, a gentle breeze blew
the flimsy white curtains apart and he was able to see the sky and the tops
of the trees outside for just a moment.

It seemed that there was a message for him not to give up. Suddenly an idea
hit him. All he could do was move one finger and he decided to make the
best use of it. By moving this, he slowly developed a code of communication
with his wife.

He touched his wife's arm with that finger, indicating to her that he
wanted her to call the engineers again. Then he used the same method of
tapping her arm to tell the engineers what to do. It seemed foolish but the
project was under way again.

For 13 years Washington tapped out his instructions with his finger on his
wife's arm, until the bridge was finally completed. Today the spectacular
Brooklyn Bridge stands in all its glory as a tribute to the triumph of one
man's indomitable spirit and his determination not to be defeated by
circumstances. It is also a tribute to the engineers and their team work,
and to their faith in a man who was considered mad by half the world. It
stands too as a tangible monument to the love and devotion of his wife who
for 13 long years patiently decoded the messages of her husband and told
the engineers what to do.

Perhaps this is one of the best examples of a never-say-die attitude that
overcomes a terrible physical handicap and achieves an impossible goal.

Often when we face obstacles in our day-to-day life, our hurdles seem very
small in comparison to what many others have to face. The Brooklyn Bridge
shows us that dreams that seem impossible can be realized with
determination and persistence, no matter what the odds are.

Even the most distant dream can be realized with determination and
persistence.

Cleaning your electronic items....

There are many electronic items like our mp3 players, ipod, mobile etc. that we would have bought it out of intrest. After using it for some days it may get dirty, even if we wipe it with wet cloth the dirt will not go. The most easy and fast way to clean it is by taking an acne pad and wipe it all over.

Wipe it on all sides. Then let it air dry before using. It is simple why this works. The alcohol in the acne pad kills the germs as well as removes the oil and grime. Your mobile now looks very new, clean and stylish.

Google

Google, one of the most commonly used search engines in the world. Recently Google inc, has come up with a new concept of "google bus". This initiative has been started by google accross many places. This has been done in order to create awarness among people, about the growth of the internet and about the recent technology that is available in the market.

This plan has been organised in many developing nations like India, where the usage of the internet is increasing drastically. The plan is to set up many stalls, stores to educate people about the usage of the internet, and about the latest things in the market.
